Facts Concerning Virginity

Over time I have come to realize that there are different perspectives to the issue of virginity that people have and, in this article we will consider some of them.

Let's go...

"I must marry a virgin", He says.

"If I look down there, and I see that she's not a virgin, our marriage is over!" Someone said that to me!

"I have to be the one to 'disvirgin' her", He says. (The word is "deflower". There's no word like "disvirgin".)

I have heard so many assertions, notions, mindsets and conceptions about virginity, and at least 90% of the time, people have the wrong knowledge about it.

The first problem I usually have is when virginity is only "allocated" to the females. Once virginity is mentioned, we are talking about a woman, why? Nobody talks about virginity for males. That's already wrong from that point. But it's because we don't have the proper knowledge about virginity.

Conversely, we live in a society where, if you're a virgin you're mocked. If you haven't had sex, you are made jest of, poked, and made a laughing stock amongst peers. It's as if there is a price for losing your virginity, and that you assume some "god state" when you lose your virginity. In fact, in the modern society, the more people you have sex with, the more respect you get amongst friends. So we can see, on both ends, we have failed to fully apprehend virginity.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆? 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻?

By general definition, 𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉, 𝒐𝒓 𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅. 𝑰𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒉𝒖𝒎𝒂𝒏, 𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒍, 𝒂 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆, 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒊𝒍, 𝒐𝒓 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓. Just anything. A human virgin is therefore, someone who has not been "soiled", especially in the sexual sense.

So, a virgin girl is a girl who has not engaged in any form of sexual activity, and presumably, her anatomical organs are intact. By technicality, the proof that a girl is a virgin is that the hymen is intact. The HYMEN is a protective covering of the vagina that is usually destroyed by penetrative mechanism. So it is believed that a girl is a virgin because her hymen is intact, but that is wrong. The hymen is prone to violation by means other than the sexual (penetrative) means. For example, a girl who rides a horse or a bicycle, and bounces up and down frequently, exposes herself to the tendency of a traumatic hymen rupture. Even young women who have to insert tampons for menstruation, may also lose their hymen doing so. If that happens, would you say she has lost her virginity? And if there is a consequence for losing her virginity, would she partake of it? Think about this.

On the other hand, a virgin boy is believed to be a fellow who has not soiled himself sexually. But you see, by technicality, there's no way to determine whether a boy or man is a virgin or not, except he tells you. There are no changes on his male organ to determine the state of his virginity. We can only hope he's telling the truth. Do you see how unfair that is? We judge a girl's virginity based on the anatomical changes seen on her sexual organs, but we cannot do that for the guys. Does it mean that God is partial to have designed it that way? Or are we the ones just judging wrongly?

It is important that we address this topic because, a lot of parents have almost killed their daughters because of this.

Mum: Amaka have you had sex before?

Amaka: Mummy no I haven't.

Mum: You're lying! Let's go to the hospital!

They get to the hospital, and it is discovered that Amaka's hymen is no longer there. Mummy starts to beat Amaka like she's a prostitute, meanwhile she bought Amaka the bicycle she has been using to go to school for the past 2 years, and the bicycle may have done some traumatic damages down there without her knowledge. The same Amaka who has been avoiding boys like plagues. But as far as Mummy is concerned, Amaka is no longer a virgin. How right is Mummy?

On the other hand, Mummy calls Amaka's brother Chike:

Mum: Chike, have you had sex?

Chike: No Mummy I haven't had sex.

Mum: 🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔.... Hmmmm.... Okay o.

In Chike's case, there's no going to hospital, because there's no way to know. We just try to believe whatever he tells us. Isn't that unfair?

The truth is, whether it's a male or a female, virginity should be ascertained the very same way. This clearly means, that 𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕, 𝒅𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚. The presence or absence of the female hymen does not determine virginity.

I'm trying to say, 𝙔𝙊𝙐'𝙍𝙀 𝙉𝙊𝙏 𝘼 𝙑𝙄𝙍𝙂𝙄𝙉 𝘽𝙀𝘾𝘼𝙐𝙎𝙀 𝙔𝙊𝙐 𝙎𝙏𝙄𝙇𝙇 𝙃𝘼𝙑𝙀 𝘼 𝙃𝙔𝙈𝙀𝙉; 𝙔𝙊𝙐'𝙍𝙀 𝙅𝙐𝙎𝙏 𝘼 𝙑𝙄𝙍𝙂𝙄𝙉 𝙏𝙃𝘼𝙏 𝙎𝙏𝙄𝙇𝙇 𝙃𝘼𝙎 𝘼 𝙃𝙔𝙈𝙀𝙉, 𝘼𝙎 𝙈𝙐𝘾𝙃 𝘼𝙎 𝙔𝙊𝙐 𝘾𝘼𝙉 𝙎𝙏𝙄𝙇𝙇 𝘽𝙀 𝘼 𝙑𝙄𝙍𝙂𝙄𝙉 𝙒𝙄𝙏𝙃𝙊𝙐𝙏 𝙊𝙉𝙀. Does this make sense?

So for all these dumb folks walking around looking for a virgin to marry just based on some anatomical state, YOU NEED TO STOP THAT RUBBISH! Stop putting these innocent ladies through unnecessary pressure. Anything could have happened to that hymen. It may be her bicycle. It could be sports. It could be horse riding. It could also be rape! None of these are her fault. So you're just gonna reject a great girl because she has no hymen? What is the nature of your madness? How ignorant can you be? In fact, with that mindset, you're not even worthy to be in her life. You don't deserve her, and she don't need yo lil crazy ass! Get out before I bring cane🙄🙄. Fowl meat😏.

Besides that, some of you guys have been sleeping around with all kinds of ladies, and then when it's time for you to marry, you suddenly want a virgin, someone nobody has slept with. So who will marry the ones you deflowered? Anu ofia😐. The thunder that will strike you is jogging around my house right now, with boxing gloves🙄. It will strike you in your nether regions first, because is laik you din have sense😏😏😏.

You people know I don't like worrai hate in this life😅😅😅😅. Nobody should hold me o🤣🤣🤣🤣.

The idea behind virginity is that IT STARTS FROM YOUR INSIDE! Jesus gave us a glimpse into virginity, and made it clear that virginity has very little to do with what is physical. He says, if you so much as LOOK...., you have already committed adultery. You have lost your virginity from that point! He went further to teach, that what defiles you is not what goes into you, but what comes out of you. And as we know, what comes out of you, comes from the heart. This is why you are told to GUARD YOUR HEART WITH ALL DILIGENCE, because OUT OF IT FLOWS ISSUES OF LIFE.

Clearly, you lose your virginity from your mind first, even before the deed. So you see, we focus on the wrong information about virginity.

So there you are, thinking to yourself: "Look at that girl's behind😍... So succulent and bodacious😋😋😋... See her frontal rack... Looking so sweet😛... I bet they're soft too🤗🤗.... But as a child of God, I won't touch her or lay with her, because I want to retain my virginity."

Uhm... Hello sir? What do you mean? Dude, YOU JUST LOST YOUR VIRGINITY!

She be checking out his broad chest, six packs, sexy kissable lips, wishing to run her hands all over his strong manly body. Soon they start dating, and they kiss, and caress one another, and when he's about to remove her panties, she goes: "No please, I don't want to lose my virginity."

Auntie what are you talking about? YOU ALREADY LOST IT EVEN BEFORE Y'ALL STARTED DATING!

So judging by this, how many of us are still virgins?✋✋✋😂😂😂😂😂

You can see that not many of us are really still virgins in the actual sense of this understanding. So what makes you think yourself more virgin than another person? What makes you think because your friend has had sex and you haven't, you're a virgin and she isn't? Isn't this a situation of kettle calling pot black?! You're as guilty as your friend. At least your friend got a bit more enjoyment from it than you did😅😅😅😅.

Read this well: Do you know why Mary was called a virgin?! It's not primarily because she hadn't had sex. It was because SHE MAINTAINED GENERAL MORAL INTEGRITY! This was the first thing Angel Gabriel pointed out to her when He met her.

"𝐻𝑎𝑖𝑙, 𝑜 𝑓𝑎𝑣𝑜𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑜𝑛𝑒, 𝑓𝑢𝑙𝑙 𝑜𝑓 𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑒, 𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑔𝑠𝑡 𝑜𝑡𝒉𝑒𝑟 𝑤𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛..." (𝐿𝑢𝑘𝑒 1:28).

The Angel didn't say: "Hail Mary, for you haven't slept with any man before."

In fact, it was Mary that reminded the Angel that she hasn't slept with any man before.

𝐴𝑛𝑑 𝑀𝑎𝑟𝑦 𝑠𝑎𝑖𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑡𝒉𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑙, 𝐻𝑜𝑤 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑡𝒉𝑖𝑠 𝑏𝑒, 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝐼 𝒉𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑛𝑜 [𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑎𝑐𝑦 𝑤𝑖𝑡𝒉 𝑎𝑛𝑦 𝑚𝑎𝑛 𝑎𝑠 𝑎] 𝒉𝑢𝑠𝑏𝑎𝑛𝑑?

But that wasn't Angel Gabriel's concern. Mary was not honored because she hadn't slept with any man. She was honored and highly favored because amongst many other women of her time, she had maintained an all-round moral integrity that attracted heaven to her. It wasn't about whether she slept with anyone, otherwise, God wouldn't have also favored Rahab the harlot. And Jesus still came from Rahab's lineage, remember?

My point here is, virginity is more a thing of the heart than a physical state. If you are no longer a virgin in its real understanding, and you come to God and ask for forgiveness, He will forgive you, cleanse your heart, and forget that you ever sinned! He says, "I will remember their sins no more." (Hebrew 8:12)

Do you know what that means? It means that ONCE GOD FORGIVES YOU, YOU HAVE BECOME A VIRGIN ONCE AGAIN! You know the understanding is that, once you're deflowered, you have lost your virginity forever. That's not how God sees it. If He can reverse a state of unholiness to holiness, filth to cleanliness, sin to righteousness, who told you He cannot reverse your non-virgin state back into virginity?

It doesn't matter how many people you have slept with, or how many times you have defiled yourself, sure you can't get your hymen back ever again, but your real virginity can still be restored by God and God alone. God forgives you, and restores your virginity. It is no longer in God's record book that you messed up, because His forgiveness comes together with FORGETTING THAT YOU EVER SINNED. That is why in 2Cor 5:17, if any man is in Christ, YOU ARE BRAND NEW, because old things have passed away, and God has made you a new person. So you're no longer a mess, because He has forgiven and forgotten COMPLETELY. It is only humans that keep terrible history and use it to haunt other people. We humans go back to people's pasts, remind them of it, and judge them by it. God is not like that. He keeps NO RECORD OF YOUR PAST. So once you have asked God for forgiveness, remind yourself frequently that God has forgiven you, so that you don't torture yourself with details of the past. As God has forgiven you, LEARN TO FORGIVE YOURSELF TOO! It is possible that the reason you're not moving forward is because you're still dwelling in the past, and God wants to use you mightily, because in His righteous book, your name is there, bound for heaven, and there is no past. But you're still in the past. Snap out of it! That is the devil, THE ACCUSER, trying to drag you into depression. Use your mouth to confess unto salvation, that God has forgiven and forgotten your iniquities. You are a brand new creature now, devoid of any sin! The devil can no longer accuse you! FORGIVE YOURSELF.

(Aw Lawd, when did I digress?😅 No be dis message I carry com o😁).

My final message is, VIRGINITY SURE DOES HAVE VALUE! It is a good thing that you have not defiled yourself or slept with anyone yet, and I encourage you to keep it up. But more importantly, FOCUS MORE ON PROTECTING YOUR HEART THAN PROTECTING YOUR HYMEN. If you protect your heart, every other thing just goes right from there, including not physically defiling yourself. That's how Mary ended up not sleeping with any man. Focus more on having a clean heart where Jesus can dwell. Focus on a relationship with God. It is more important than whether your hymen is intact or not. If you have messed up, just run back to Daddy. He will restore you.😊

Bear in mind, that just because God is merciful, forgives and forgets your sins, and can make you brand new, does not mean that there are no consequences for messing up. It is not God that will get pregnant when the condom breaks. It is not God that your parents will send out of the house. It is not God that will drop out of school. It is not God that will get STDs. So be careful what you conceive in your heart, as well as the actions that ensue. Whatever law God has made, it's for your own good. By all means, try to maintain your virginity, to the glory of God.
